I have worked with children since I was 16 in several different capacities; as a private nanny, in a corporate childcare facility, at small faith-based childcare facilities and also as a volunteer at a head start type program. I am naturally nurturing at heart (my 4th grade teacher called me "mother hen") and have a always had a great instinct when it comes to communicating with children, as you'll see in speaking with my references. I was born and raised in Minnesota and moved to San Diego in 2008, where I met my husband, who is currently serving in the U. S. Coast Guard. The majority of my experience is with ages 5 and under, which is just my favorite age range. I consider being a childcare provider a profession, not a side job or "just babysitting" and truly believe it is an honor to be invited into your home Read more and your families hearts. I believe that children need and desire guidelines and structure in order to help them successful grow into the independent, strong and well balanced young adults they are created to be. Safety is always my first priority, followed closely by teaching love, kindness and respect for others and self. Of course, just like jell-o, there is always room for spontaneous fun and creativity! I love getting my hands dirty and making messes... just as long as they are cleaned up by the end of the evening. Play time is learning time after all. I do have some ECE credits (as well as other non-childcare related college credits) I earned while attending college in San Diego. I am currently exploring different options to expand my childcare portfolio, including updating my CPR & First Aid certification.
