I became a childcare provider at the age of 15. I started babysitting for family and some of their friends and it was at this point when I realized how much I enjoyed working with children. After graduating high school, I decided to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education. I attended Union County College where I obtained my Associates degree in Liberal Studies. Thereafter, I transferred to Kean University for one year majoring in Early Childhood Elementary Education. Although I had a passion and desire for working with children, I wanted to explore other fields so I applied to Rutgers University where I received my Bachelor of Science in Public Health. Despite this change in my career path, it did not stray me away from working with children. Today, I still babysit and I am currently a Lead Infant Teacher at Bright Horizons Family Solutions in Washington, DC. The experience I have is but not limited to creating lesson plans, developing age appropriate activities, working with various age groups, cooking/preparing light meals/snacks, and ensuring to provide a fun, safe, and sanitary environment. I love working with children because I enjoy helping them reach their highest potential, watching them grow physically and developmentally, seeing the bright smiles on their faces and lastly building everlasting relationships with not only the child but their families as well. I believe that it takes a village to raise children, and I feel that it is my duty to help them reach for the stars.
