I have been caring for children as a babysitter, nanny, and teacher for over 10 years. I first started babysitting at the age of twelve, and took several classes to become a certified babysitter and to learn Pediatric First Aid and CPR. I have volunteered with special education classes and have become familiar with handling many types of learning disabilities and autism, as well as juvenile diabetes, partial paralysis and blindness. I have 3 years experience teaching Pre-Kindergarten and am nearing a year's experience as a Lead Preschool teacher, both at licensed centers (The Goddard School of Forked River and Kiddie Academy of Freehold), and have taught and cared for children from birth to twelve years in home settings. I have also tutored and provided homework assistance for middle school and high school aged children. As a nanny, I maintain a clean household (vacuuming, laundry, etc.), prepare meals, shop for Read more clothing and food, bring children to and from their necessary activities, and create individualized lesson plans for each child, if desired. Over the years I have watched and cared for many children, from infants to second and third graders. I have also accompanied several different families on vacations, and watched children both at their home and my own. I feel comfortable watching children of all age ranges, and am more than happy to provide care for any family pets as well. I believe in keeping children engaged, not sitting them in front of a screen. I also believe in visiting the local library once a week (or more!), fostering a love of science and creative art, and spending a lot of time adventuring outdoors. All children require love, patience and understanding. I also know that each child is different, and direct my teaching to best suit their individual needs. I feel that children learn best when both their minds and bodies are active, and I teach through fun age-appropriate activities which foster learning as well as self-control and compassion. I also try to encourage children to become involved in their community and the world around them, teaching by example to be socially aware, responsible, empathetic individuals.
