Hello! My name is Jenn and I am an actress and artist living in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens, NY. My freelance work gives me the freedom and flexibility to also pursue my love of working with children. I grew up in a household where my mother ran a daycare center and where I discovered early on my love of working with children. I began babysitting in high school and was a member of FEA (Future Educators Association). My educational background consists of Early Childhood Development, ASL/Deaf Studies, and Sign Language Interpreting. In addition to my years of nanny and babysitting experience working with children ages infant to 14, I also have worked as a professional in preschool classroom settings (ages 2-5), as a Director of a Before-and-After School Care Program through the YMCA (grades K-5), and as an Assistant Teacher in both a 2nd/3rd grade classroom and a 7th/8th Read more grade classroom. My personal philosophy when working with children is to create an environment that is disciplined and safe in a way that also sustains the necessary freedom that will empower and encourage children to learn about themselves and the world around them through their own discovery.

I hired Jenn to babysit for my 3. 5 year old son for a week while my son's regular babysitter took time off to attend a training. I am very impressed and consider myself fortunate to have found her and to have her on my list as a part-time, short notice, back up, and otherwise occasional sitter. Jenn is truly an extraordinary caregiver and conducted herself with the utmost professionalism at every turn, including several challenges that arose during the course of the week. She was also a patient interviewee and made quick friends with my son. Each day that I retuned home my apartment was cleaner and neater. My son was always engaged in an educational and/ or imaginative activity. Jenn arrived every day with her own art supplies and craft ideas and seized upon inspiration and my son's passions. He continues to play with the crafts they made together morning, noon and night. She respectfully followed (and had my son follow) the house rules and coordinated with myself and his other babysitter as necessary. I couldn't be happier or more satisfied.
