I spent my high school and early college years caring for neighborhood children and as a camp counselor where I forged rich relationships with campers. I would eventually be asked by the parent of a camper I had gotten to know to be the little girl's sitter. I picked up the 7-year-old girl from school, gave her a snack and helped her with homework. When not accompanying her to after-school activities, I would help to fill her free time with coordinated local play dates and trips to the library. The little girl had a 7-month-old sister that I also helped care for, doing bottle feedings, holding her, playing and taking her for walks while mom worked. After that family moved across the country, I was introduced to another family who had an infant that was 10-months old who I'd take to the park, read to, take to sing-alongs, care for Read more when she was sick and teething and care for on date nights. Through word-of-mouth recommendations, I eventually gained a small network of families with kids of all ages that I would care for on an occasional basis in addition to my regular families. In my free time, I do extensive research on child development to ensure that my childcare is comprehensive and developmentally stimulating. The age ranges of children I've cared for over the years has been as young as 11 weeks and as old as 14-years-old and I feel just as comfortable with the oldest of that group as I do with the youngest. I am currently looking for a kind and respectful family that I can work with full-time on a long-term basis and grow with over the years.
