I am a recent Houghton College graduate with a BA in psychology and a minor in family studies. I absolutely love learning and plan on furthering my education status in 2-3 years. Through high school summers as well as throughout my college years I have nannied for some awesome families with children ranging from newborn to six years old. My final semester of college I had the opportunity to intern in a school system, where I taught small groups of children, primarily kindergarteners, with short classes in third and fifth grade classrooms. In working with such diverse ages through nannying and my internship, I have been able to apply my abundance of child and adolescent knowledge into real world experience. My degree has enabled my mind to understand child, adolescent, and family theory, cognition, and development. Understanding these three subjects has enabled the skills needed to effectively communicate with all Read more ages appropriately, as well as creatively challenge cognition in order to prosper child development. I am excellent at self-regulation and tend to jump right in where I am needed. My listening and comprehensive abilities are outstanding as well as my ability to pick up on cues in tone, body language, expression, and draw accurate conclusions that work towards positive solutions. Through my years I have also worked with an abundance of special needs persons including learning disabilities, ADHD, anxiety disorder, depression, sensory disorders, and physical limitations, and am comfortable and confident in these situations. I also have taken CPR and heimlick maneuver courses. A little more about myself- I have seven siblings, five of which are under the age of eleven, and I love them bundles. I enjoy cooking, creating scrapbook projects, taking walks, rock climbing, doodling and coloring, drinking tea and coffee, exploring new places, and taking pictures. Netflix and Twitter are also a favorite, along with cats and pugs, which I find unbelievably adorable. My family is beyond important to me, and spending time with them and my close friends is absolutely one of my favorite pass times. All in all, I love kiddos and enjoy exploring life with them. My empathetic personality works well in creating a comfortable, safe, fun, creative, and sincere environment. I am confident that I will bring much knowledge, love, care, warmth, and fun into your child's life.
