I have been an early childhood teacher of 30 years. I have numerous experiences with handling multiples of children first as a public school teacher for kindergarten, where I taught reading, writing and math, along with social studies and natural science. Then in 2003, I became a toddler teacher and creatively took on building curriculums for that age group. Besides setting up nurturing in-class environments for the toddlers that I had, I showed them how to learn from the local environment, and have fun while doing it. We shopped, had many nature walks ( all subjects), built on social and physical play with children from other centers. I am strong on literacy, so children of this age must build on tbeir oral vocabulary before they can embrace the actual words in print. My other experiences with toddlers include diapering, helping with potty training and basic first aid. I have had Read more a few experiences with children who have Asberger's Syndrome and understand some of the basic nuances that may come with having this syndrome. I am personally well travelled and accept all different ethnicities/religious beliefs without prejudice. My mother tongue is English with a smattering of German, Spanish, French and one or two words in Mandarin. Lastly,I have a B.S.and Master's from Hunter College in the field of elementary/early childhood education. And, 30 more credits in comparative education studies while I travelled abroad to Europe, Russia, East Asia and Puerto Rico. Presently, I am working for Bright Horizons as a preschool teacher in Manhattan.
