My first full time Nanny experience began shortly after I move to Richmond, VA. The family has two children one of whom has down syndrome. He was 3 months old when I became their nanny and during that time they adopted a little girl who was 11 months younger. Needless to say it a very busy household. I found I loved ever minute of it. I was able to work closely with the parents and therapist which was a highly enriching and educational experience for me. I learned different ways to approach all children and the rewards of hard work and patience. I have had two other full-time families in Richmond, both jobs lasting for over a year. The first family had two boys ages 20 months and 3 months. I also had a successful side business being a babysitter for several families in the area and working in my Read more old church nursery one or two Sundays a month and teaching Sunday school and working at vacation Bible school in the summer. The last family, I cared for in Richmond had two boys who were 2 and half and 4 when I started. Their parents are both Doctors who work opposite shifts. This job required good communication. My responsibilities included laundry, meal prep and running some errands. As the boys got older I also began taking them to and from school, taking them to extra curricular, supervising play dates, helping with homework, and packing up lunches/backpacks. Recently, I moved back to New York to be closer to my family. I am currently employed by a family business and care for two cousins who are 6 weeks apart. I have been with them for over a year but am finding working in an office is just not for me. I am looking for a family who would need child care in their home. My nanny style tends to be fun and upbeat. I am not one to put children in front of the TV very often and prefer to keep children and my self busy. I love taking kids out to the library and the park. I also have lots of experience coming up with fun and age appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, games and baking. I also feel that it is not enough to tell a child how they should act but to show them. I try very hard to be a good role model with children, treating them respect, using manners, cleaning up after myself. I am willing to have a back ground check, I have a clean driving record and have a resume with references.
