I moved to the United States from Brazil in 1988 and obtained my citizenship in 1999. I am very fluent in English, having worked with and served on the Board of Literacy Volunteers of America for over ten years. I also speak fluent Portuguese. I have two children of my own, both college graduates. I operated a New York State licensed family day care business out of my home for approximately 15 years, caring for infants to age 12 children. My clients were predominatly law enforcement personnel. After closing my day care, I took a job with Child Care Council of Dutchess and Putnam, Early Intervention services. I soon became the Office Manager of that department and worked there until 2011 until that specific contract and it's staff became unfortunate victims of the economic downturn.
