I come from a big family that has a lot of younger cousins running around all the time. I am the oldest of my family's cousins, which in my family means that I learned how to babysit quickly in a responsible, fun, and most importantly - safe way. I am currently 24-years old and looking for a and I am soon to graduate from college. I am pursuing a Masters in Higher Education Administration at Stony Brook University and I have already obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a concentration in Psychology and a minor in Adapted Aquatics. Currently, I have an up-to-date CPR certification with AED and I am almost completed with a personal training and fitness nutrition certification. However, I am choosing to include certifications that I had obtained and are now expired. These are: Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor, Instructor of First Aid, and Instructor of Read more CPR. I choose to include this because although the certification has expired, my knowledge has not forgotten these experiences. I have worked with kids and families in a variety of areas including track camps for ages 5-14, coaching for 1st and 2nd grade girls soccer, academic sleep-away camps for ages 13-17, and also as an AmeriCorps member working with adults and children with disabilities in the Long Island, NY area. Previous working positions that I have held include being a Resident Assistant for Stony Brook University. This position allowed me to live and work with young adults during many of their very first time away from home. While in this position, I learned how to mediate disagreements, plan engaging activities, and create a positive living environment that contributes to the individual growth of every person. I maintain my skills and abilities by integrating them into my everyday actions and personality. My interest in working with people is genuine, but I am not intending to be babysitter for the rest of my life. I am looking to be a game designer so that I may bring the joy of learning and social interaction to the world in a fun and creative way. I incorporate this in my style of care by utilizing games, patterns, and movement exercises in ways to engage those I work with. If you have any further questions or concerns, I would be happy to continue a conversation. I hope that you have a better idea of who I am and I look forward working with you in the near future!
