My name is Shannon and I am a recent Art History graduate from SUNY Purchase. I spent my time at Purchase researching and writing my thesis on the costumes of the Ballets Russes under impresario Sergei Diaghilev (1909-1929). I also have a Fashion Design degree from FIT in NYC. I am originally from Croton-on-Hudson but I currently live in Yorktown Heights. Having turned 27 in June, I have almost 15 years of experience in childcare. I began as a "mother's helper" at the age of 13. All throughout high school and college, I babysat for families on a long term basis, always building strong personal yet professional relationships with both the children and the parents. I have watched children for parents while they have gone away for the weekend, and have held a number of summertime and school-year nanny positions. I have experience with both physically and mentally disabled children Read more and I am also CPR certified. I have babysat for many Greenwich/Cos Cob, CT, Rye Brook, NY, Scarsdale, NY, White Plains, NY, and Croton, NY families over the years. I love cooking and baking, so making meals for your children would be a pleasure. As an art major, I love all arts and crafts, especially sewing, as well as playing games. Having grown up with two brothers, I am not afraid to get my hands dirty and play outside. I enjoy taking kids to the park, the zoo, out for froyo, and other fun adventures. I love to read and enjoy inspiring children to get "into" reading themselves, whether it be by reading comic books or Harry Potter! I enjoy helping kids with their homework, even though they may not like doing it themselves. Simply put, I have a passion for providing excellent childcare to local families, including stimulating activities and outings for children. I have my own reliable and well maintained car (Toyota Rav4) and a clean NYS driver's license, along with a clean criminal record. I have been an after-school nanny for a Rye Brook family since Sept. '14 (hours: 3pm-6/7pm), a morning nanny for a North White Plains family since Aug. '15 (hours: 7am-2pm), and I have babysat for a Scarsdale family every Saturday night (Sept-June, hours 6pm-11pm or later) for the past 3 years. However, my families’ summer schedules have freed up a lot of my time for babysitting gigs. I am free M-F until 3pm and after 6:30pm, as well as mornings and evenings Saturday and Sunday through Aug 31. I have a list of references ready to be shared privately with prospective families.
