I have been taking care of children since I was 9 years old. Even at that early age I was trusted to care for 3 chilldren under the age of 5 overnight. I learned at an early age the meaning of responsibility and gentle caring for others. That's probably the reason I decided to become a teacher and taught for over 20 years in the Pittsford Central School District. It was a wonderful experience and I will always cherish the memories. I taught Art grades 1-12 over the years in the Disrrict. Now that I am retired, I am looking to spend more time with children to enhance their world outside the classroom where one on one attention is not always possible when there are 20 or more students in the classroom. My experience with children has continued in our family with five grandchildren who live in Utah ranging from Read more 17 -4 . Our visits are a few times a year and they have taught me many things over the years. Children are much smarter than when I was growing up with the opportunity to travel abroad, the internet experience, and with a multicultural environment and having the opportunity to learn about the different traditions they have. To have the opportunity to learn about their religious practices, foods they eat especially during their celebrated holidays and of course the traditional clothes worn in their country.I use to say to my Principal, how are we ever.going to have peace in this world if we don't understand the value of their customs. If you were to ask my grown daughters who are now 30 and 38 what was my favorite saying was over the years they would tell you "My Mom always would say, don't give up on anyone MIRAClLES happen everyday. To seek out the ones that are sitting alone in the lunch room and make them your friend. That's my philosophy. I hope in some small way I have given you a glimpse of my character and the love and concern I have for our children. It really does take a Village to raise a child. I am here to help. Sincerely.
