Hello, everyone! My name is Michelle Porcelli. I am 26, originally from Chicago, married, and a dog mom. I have a BA in Liberal Arts from the St. John's College Great Books Program in Annapolis, MD. Beyond years of regular babysitting positions for my college professor, my chiropractor, and local families in my hometown and college town, I have served as an educator in a variety of roles. While in college I was a teaching assistant to a senior-year history of science class. After graduating I interned with the Physics Education Research Group at the University of Maryland and also served as a teaching assistant for a freshman physics course at the same institution. Upon recommendation from my mentors in these roles, I took a position as a full-time elementary teaching assistant in a public charter school. In this role, I wrote the history curriculum for the entire fifth grade Read more and taught daily history and Latin-Greek roots lessons to my class. I performed all of the reading skills assessments for my class and also taught daily reading interventions for a group of eight struggling readers, all of whom graduated from the program. I underwent regular professional trainings in child development and the most current and dignified methods of behavior intervention. After a year in this role, I progressed into a lead teaching position in a pre-kindergarten classroom in a private day care. As a lead pre-k teacher I wrote and taught all the lessons for my class of eight four-year-old children. I was the sole care provider for my students and performed comprehensive developmental assessments of their progress. I received extensive early childhood education training from my employer, from healthy and safety to child development theory. My experiences in elementary and early childhood classrooms inspired me to pursue a graduate degree in teaching. I am applying to programs now, which start in the fall. I hope to find an awesome family to care for full-time through the spring and summer, and part-time through the fall of 2018. Thank you for reading my bio! Happy hunting! Very Truly Yours, Michelle
