I am a certified teacher and work in the Special Education Department for the East Meadow School District. I am a graduate of Suny Old Westbury, where I majored in Education and History and completed courses at Brooklyn College for Students with Disabilities. I babysit whenever a job is available and work on a first come, first served basis. I have been providing child care for 15 years. I have cared for a variety of families, with children ranging from 1 month to 16 years of age. To keep children away from the phone, computer and television, I love spending as much time outside as possible with them. I also plan activities that help the children learn and develop, such as art projects and games based on what you have at home. I also engage the kids in healthy conversation to build their self-confidence. I believe it is imperative to provide Read more positive reinforcement and lead by example. Since I own a vehicle, I am able to pick up and drop off for any activity. It would be my pleasure to prepare snacks and meals for your children. However, since I have a tree nut allergy, anything containing tree nuts (cashews, almonds, walnuts, etc.) must be avoided. If a child ignores redirection and does something they know they should not do, I enforce time outs (when appropriate). A child's age determines how long they spend taking a break. For example, five-year-olds will spend five minutes in time out. My certifications include CPR and first aid. Additionally, I grew up competing in swimming and teach swimming lessons.
