I had a very bad experience with Sharon B. I hired her and a few weeks after getting close to my children and family, she informed me that she had culinary ambitions and had been accepted at a culinary school and needed to leave me. Now that would have been fine if she hadn't told me specifically that she was looking for something long-term as was I. I should mention that I kept asking her if she was happy working with our family and she always said yes. If she wasn't happy and had told me that, I would have been fine. It's the deception that was awful. Other people I had interviewed were honest in telling me if they were planning to go to school in the near future, but Sharon never said any such thing and insisted she wanted something long-term. I requested her to stay at least until my the end of June when my older daughter finished preschool and after keeping me on tenterhooks for days, she agreed to do so. I was so happy. Then, the following week she called in sick and despite repeated attempts to contact her, she never told me if and when she was coming back or what was wrong. I was left stranded with a 3 month old and a 3-year-old, not knowing if my nanny was going to ever come back or not. It was so stressful and I would not wish that on anyone. This was after repeated assurances that she would never leave me stranded, she just left without a word. Frankly, I now doubt if the culinary school acceptance or the sickness was true.
