My name is Ashley Mortensen and I am a graduate with honors from New York University with a BFA in musical theatre and minors in creative writing and psychology. I currently live in Sunnyside Queens with my husband and dog Dolce. I have lived in New York City for 9 years (residing in various sections from the upper west side to the east village). I live right off the 7 train and am completely willing to travel anywhere in Manhattan or the outer buroughs. I am a very outgoing, creative and energetic person who cares immensly about children and I hope to better there lives and be a good example for them. I am an avid baker and love to cook and work in the the kitchen. (I must say I make a mean apple pie, some pretty good snickerdoodles and my famous chocolate chip cookies.) Musical Theatre is a HUGE part of my life, so I am always singing and I am a very hands on teacher. Much of my teaching is theough song! Singing, music and theatre is all about creativity and not being afraid to make mistakes. It makes you a better performer and a better all around person! What I love most about watching children and why it is such a passion of mine is that I truly believe that I learn as much from them as I hope they will from me. I have been touring the country with the National tour of WICKED the musical and one of the highlights after every performance is meeting the kids who are seeing the show for the 1st or 20th time.
