After taking a 8-week long child care course in middle school, I began working as 'mother's helper' for neighborhood stay-at-home moms who wanted a bit of free time to do things around the house. Throughout high school, I regularly babysat for families with two or more children (ages 4 months to 12+ years old) while parents were out of the house. To date, I have nearly 16 years experience in babysitting. I am an active and hands-on babysitter; I engage the children in various educational and physical activities. Unless it is a specified movie night, kids in my care are never sitting in front of a TV. You will find us in the playroom enacting elaborate skits or dramatic scenes from a book we've recently read. I love to see kids use their critical-thinking skills and imaginations to build forts, lego homes, or miniature swings for their dolls. I am Pediatric & Adult CPR + AED + First Aid certified; I renew my certification every two years. By profession, I am an elementary and secondary teacher. I have taught from grade 2 all the way to grade 10 in various subjects. I also worked as a private tutor for K - 12 for many years. I have served in a volunteer capacity as a mentor to middle and school students since college. I once served as an advisory program lead, building curriculum based on 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. I have served as a camp counselor for 6th - 10th grade girls. My most memorable activity: leading a 3-day workshop on improv comedy! In my free time, I enjoy reading books (big fan of Kindle Unlimited) and watching historical dramas.
