I highly recommend Melissa as a nanny and was so fortunate to have found her as a part-time nanny. I will re-hire her again if she is not already taken when we return from being away for the summer and our hours work for her. From day one, I felt at ease leaving her to take care of my 14-month old son while I had to go to work full-time. She loves kids and it shows in her personality—she is very nurturing, gentle, loving yet was comfortable placing necessary boundaries with my son. My son enjoyed being with Melissa and was very happy every time I got home from work, which was a good and comforting sign. I know Melissa also devoted her time to playing with my son, whether it was singing children songs, counting numbers, reading books, learning the alphabet or just hanging out together watching the buses go by. Knowing that Melissa was also a mommy of a young child made me feel so much better. After talking with her, I knew she could relate to the worries of being away from your child and wanting the best for him or her while you were away. I wanted my son to get the love and attention while I was away and knew Melissa would do just that since she understands first-hand that mommies want the best for their little ones. Since Melissa started working for us, she has been extremely flexible accommodating our changing hours with one day starting at 7 am and the next day at 9:30 am given our changing work schedule. She was always on time and never called in sick. She was also willing to sit for us on her day off when we were in a bind and couldn’t find anyone to take care of our son last minute. That showed and meant a lot to me. Melissa also is very responsible and I was very comfortable with her taking my son to the park, creative play classes and other outdoor activities. She called me every time before she went out with my son to let me know where they were going. She also emailed me daily updates (often 2x per day with pictures) about how my son was doing (how much he napped, ate, his mood, etc.). It was also nice to come home to a house where I could see the living room floor with no toys scattered everywhere. Every day Melissa picked up all the toys and cleaned up after my son (including washing the bottles). What a pleasure it was to not have to do this after a busy and exhausting day! Maybe I will get lucky and have the chance to re-hire Melissa again if it all works out. I will keep my fingers crossed! Melissa has been babysitting my 5 year-old daughter for several months and I could not be happier with her. She is warm, nurturing and energetic, and she always makes sure my daughter has interesting, engaging projects to fill their time together. Melissa is also very punctual and reliable. She takes her responsibilities very seriously, making every effort to arrive with time to spare so that she will not inconvenience anyone. Overall, Melissa is an exceptional babysitter and any family would be lucky to employ her.
