As a student seeking a Master's Degree in counseling, I have found myself surrounded by children in just about every position and job I have held. I have babysat for 6 years and have experience nannying children for weeks at a time. Additionally, for three summers, I taught children (ages 3-13) swim lessons at the pool in which I was a lifeguard. I not only provided one-on-one attention to each child in the group, but was also available for private lessons for children after the initial lesson. For the next five years, throughout my college career, I coached numerous field hockey camps in New England. I not only taught field hockey skills, but also placed a large emphasis on teamwork and sportsmanship. This past year, I tutored 2nd grade students in both reading and math at a nearby elementary school in Providence, RI. These students, most of whom were below Read more grade level reading, needed assistance in specific areas of the two subjects, and I was able to provide the one-on-one help to build the students' confidence and comprehension skills.
