I'm a resourceful, energetic, high-performing former preschool teacher (and mom to three grown sons) with a demonstrated love and respect for children, their well being and education. I'm creative, competent and able to remain composed; value honesty and integrity. And I have a fairly flexible schedule and clean driving record! Able to juggle multiple tasks in a busy home setting with ease, patience and a sense of humor. Love to inspire children to learn about the world around them while helping them develop appropriate age-related and social skills. While raising my three sons as a single mom, I worked for ten years as a preschool teacher. I also served as a Sunday school teacher/nursery worker. Plus, I designed and launched various programs for children such as Miss Sheila's Kids in the Kitchen at the Dutchess County Fair. My heart has always been in raising, working with and teaching children. I Read more truly enjoy children and young adults -- I was the mom who never wanted summer vacation to end!! Today my nest is empty -- my oldest is married, holds an MBA, and works in finance; my middle son just got engaged and will be attending massage school with his fiance in Hawaii (way too far away for this mama!!) and my "baby," who dates a sweet Vassar College girl, recently transferred to my alma mater to complete his business degree. Before my children were born, and when my youngest was a teenager, I worked for several years in my former career field (public relations/ journalism -- BA degree cum laude), leaving my last position in 2011 to pursue freelance opportunities after I remarried. In addition to healthy cooking, health and wellness, writing, and reading, some of my interests are the outdoors, hiking, walking and yoga. Love cooking with kids, reading to children, doing arts and crafts, playing. Can plan and supervise themed-birthday parties in your home, or help out during parties. I follow a gluten free diet and am familiar with Celiac. Love well-behaved dogs; cats and birds. I welcome the opportunity to chat with you about your child(ren) and your childcare needs.
