Hello! I'm Lauren and I'm looking to be a summer nanny for children from 2-10. I'm a 3rd year student at the University of Cincinnati majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders to become a Speech Pathologist and work with children in a school setting. Last summer I worked at a summer camp called Stepping Stones for children with disabilities and I absolutely loved it. Throughout my time working there, I received training in CPR/First Aid/AED through the Red Cross and went through a week of training on how to communicate and handle different situations when caring for a child. I was a camp counselor along with 2 other counselors for 10-16 children a day from 9-5 Monday- Friday. Throughout the day we fed them lunch, took them to the pool, played sports, participated in arts and crafts, and danced at music time! Previous to my experience at camp, I was Read more a coach for the Youth Athletic Program through the Special Olympics. I was responsible for planning recreational activities for children ages 2-6 that would help improve their motor skills and introduce them to sports that they could participate in through the Special Olympics. I've also taken education courses that required field experience in preschools so I've shadowed many classrooms with typical and atypical students. I am very active as well as creative and I love creating new activities for kids to participate in whether it be crafts or sports or even going somewhere new! I think its really important that children learn through their experiences and creating games and hands on activities such as art projects are a great way for children to do so. As far as my hobbies go, I enjoy running, traveling, hanging out with friends, and I also play the ukulele a little bit! Since I am in school, I am able to Nanny Monday-Friday from May to August. I also have a vehicle and am willing to take the child/children to and from preschool or to different activities such as the zoo, museums, etc.
