Hi! My name is Emily, and I absolutely love kids! I've been working with children since I was twelve years old, when I had my first babysitting job. Since then, I've had a variety of experiences that have equipped me to be an excellent nanny. In college, I studied Early Childhood and Elementary education, so I spent a great deal of time working with children in the classroom. After graduating with my bachelor's degree in 2009, I held a number of teaching jobs that gave me the opportunity to work with children ages three through twelve. I spent a year teaching English in Japan to nursery school and elementary students. After that, I taught science for a non-profit company called Science Fun for Everyone. In that position, I had the joy of making learning incredibly fun and relevant for kids, as all our programs were hands-on and experiment based. I Read more also spent a year in a more conventional teaching position, teaching a delightful group of second graders in a public school in North Carolina. Over the last two years, I have had the joy of working with very young children. From August 2013 until December 2014, I worked for All About Kids Childcare and Learning Center in Centerville. I spent most of my time there as the Assistant Director of the facility. It was my job, among other responsibilities, to ensure that we provided a safe, caring, and enriching learning environment in all of our classrooms. I spent a lot of time in the classrooms there, providing guidance I saw fit and assisting teachers when needed. In August of last year, I began the amazing journey of motherhood when I welcomed my sweet baby boy into this world. After my allotted six weeks of maternity leave, I returned to work full time. By December, I decided that it was time for me to find a way to spend more time with my son. Thus, I resigned from my position at All About Kids. Beginning in January, I started a nanny position watching another little boy that is about the same age as my son. It was an amazing experience, but the position ended May 29th, 2015. I am a very positive, energetic, and creative individual who loves to spend time with kids and encourage them along in their development. I enjoy creating an environment for children to thrive in and making meaningful memories along the way. I am certified in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I also have my First Aid, CPR, Communicable Disease Prevention, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications up to date.
