I began my teaching/childcare career in the Chicago area over fifteen years ago. Following college, I joined a program through Northwestern University called Inner City Teaching Corps. This program allowed me to pursue my dreams of teaching in the inner city in a bilingual school where I could utilize my Spanish major as well. During the day I taught elementary school on Chicago's South side and in the evenings I pursued my Master's at Northwestern University. I taught in the Chicago area for several years and most recently, in Kettering at a local elementary school. In order to make extra money in the Summer and non school days, I babysat for various families . This experience allowed me the opportunity to work with many different children with various needs and abilities. I have worked with children with special needs, multiples, behavioral challenges, and learning differences. Many of the children I Read more babysat were current or former students which also allowed me the chance to tutor as well. When I discovered I was pregnant with my twin daughters, I quit teaching to stay at home with them full time. My daughters are now three and I am eager to begin working again. Before I became a mother of twins, I was certain I knew all there was to know about newborns, infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school aged children, etc. Of course I quickly discovered I was a novice when it came to my OWN! I have a lovely house in Oakwood filled with books, puzzles, art supplies, pretend play toys, activities encouraging both fine motor and gross motor development, instruments and music, sensory bins, etc. I am also open to coming to a home to care for children either part time or full time. i have additional references, updated resume, teaching credentials, etc. available upon request
