My experience is life-long, as I come from a large family and always had nieces and nephews to watch. I had my first paying babysitting job when I was 11 years old and continued with babysitting until I became a live-in mother's helper at age 19. With age, my experience grew as I became a nanny and then a governess. In my mid-twenties I became a Certified Medical Assistant and then a Senior Administrative Assistant with a company I stayed with for ten years while I began my own family, including needing my own nanny, so I offer a unique perspective from having experienced both sides of the fence. After moving to Ohio, I started out doing some administrative work via a Temp Agency, then taught art to kids aged 1 - 12 via Abrakadoodle. While I love kids and art, I didn't love the job itself and decided I'd Read more like to return to being a nanny, so that's what I did. In the past three years I have worked with three families. While the intention with the first two families were to be more long-term than a year, their life circumstances caused them to move out of the area, and the last family had no long term needs but I cared for their children until they were enrolled in school. I also have experience volunteering at the babies and toddler's rooms at a local church. I am CPR Certified, can swim, am a good home cook, am artistic and musically inclined, love to dance, sing and stimulate the imagination, as I understand it to be a strong foundation for the intellectual mind. Reading is key and both engage in and encourage it always. My philosophy with 'discipline' is redirection and positive reinforcement. My philosophy with people in general is to abide by the golden rule. I've raised two beautiful daughters of my own; the eldest is an OSU graduate going back for her masters, the younger is a Jr. at OSU. I respect children and their innate intelligence while fostering same. I love them and am a proponent of appropriate levels of affection, understanding the difference between an infant's needs v. a teenager's. My hobbies are writing, jewelry making and arts and crafts. I love the outdoors and like to ensure the child(ren) get as much fresh air and sunshine as they can, as we celebrate the magic of nature.
