Hello, I have a BA in Psychology from The University of Akron with course work in child development. Before starting a family I was employed at Summit County Children Services as a Licensed Social Worker for three years and at Visiting Nurse Service in Akron, Ohio as a Medical Licensed Social Worker for three years. In these positions I worked closely with children of all ages and parents on parenting skills, activities that were age appropriate and helped with a child's development during their crucial early years. I have worked with children that are gifted as well as special needs and believe that all children are wonderfully created and have areas they are gifted in. I'm a mother of four children, ages 11-19, three males and one female. I have over 14 years experience homeschooling and I am thankful that my oldest got accepted into a high school nationally ranked Read more as one of the top 100 high schools in the nation. I was the coordinator and lead teacher of a homeschool groups preschool program and responsible for obtaining volunteer helpers, planning and implementing age appropriate activities such as crafts, music time, beginning sign language and play time. I also co-taught a elementary homeschool craft class. I am sensitive to the needs of children with food, environmental and pet allergies, asthma, and gifted and challenged learners as my life has been touched in all these areas. I believe that cleanliness is next to godliness, healthy eating, learning begins the moment a child is born, children thrive most in loving environments, honesty and treating others with respect. Though I provided care for babies through elementary age as a teen sitter and young adult, and have provided care for family members children over the years, the most valued experience I have is being a mother. I do not have certification in CPR or First Aid at this time, however, I am willing to obtain certification if it is of importance to you as a parent.
