My name is Katy Knight, and I am a recent graduate of Malone University with a B.A. in Biology Pre-Medicine. I currently live in the Norton, Ohio area. I have worked with kids ages 6-12 during church camps and Sunday school, as well as in an after school program at Belden Elementary in Canton, OH. I have also been a mentor for a group of eighth grade girls for a program called Sleepover Sisters. During the church camps and Sunday school, I led a small group of children in fun activities and discussions for a few hours, as well as took care of any of their needs while their parents were away. At the Belden Elementary after-school program, I was in charge of coordinating games in the gymnasium, helping with craft time, and tutoring. For Sleepover Sisters, I facilitated crafts, discussion, and music for a 24-hour duration (a sleepover at Read more church). I am currently pursuing a CPR certification from the YMCA. I have always enjoyed working with children. I believe that investing in the minds, health, and well-being of youth is one of the best things a person can do. Children need good mentors and caregivers in their lives so that they can grow up to be the best they can be. I come alive when I am able to relate to children and be a friend and mentor who brings out the best in them. Although I have not had experience babysitting in a home setting, I am able and desire to provide services such as driving, cooking, cleaning, and facilitating fun activities. I had many pets growing up (cats, dogs, hermit crabs, fish, guinea pigs, rabbits) and can care for any household pets if need be. I have lots of training in facilitating projects and team-building activities, as well as one-on-one counseling.
