When I was 15 years old, my sister had her first child and I became an aunt. She still lived at home with myself and my parents, so I was able to be very active in caring for my niece. I loved to play with her and help her to learn new things. It was at this time that I realized my love of children and caregiving. I am never so happy as when I am able to play and nurture my neice and provide her with the things she needs. My niece is now 4 years old and I have a second neice who is 4 months old. In addition to my experience at home I worked on and off again babysitting for a family of three boys and a family with two girls. When I started babysitting the boys they were 1 and 2. I watched these boys Read more grow and witnessed the addition of a third baby boy as well. By the end of my time with them the boys were 6, 5, and 2. When caring for these boys I would be left alone with them for up to 9 hours at a time while the parents were out. The girls I looked after were aged 2 and 6 and the circumstances were very similar. With both I was responsible for entertaining them, feeding them, giving them baths before bed, and whatever else they may require. I have experience with children as young as new borns and as old as 6 years. I feel very comfortable with children, and more often than not, children are very comfortable around me.
