My name is Danielle Griffith. I just graduated from Oklahoma State University and will be going to school in the fall at Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center for Audiology. I am very comfortable with children because of my experiences. One reason that I am comfortable around children is because of my family size. I am a twin and we are the oldest of 3 younger siblings, so I grew up interacting with children all of the time. I learned how to watch over children at a young age. I started watching over my younger siblings when my parents were at work or out running errands when I was in middle school. Another experience I have with children is that I also volunteered in the nursery for a few years at my old church. These children were 12-18 months old and my main jobs were to monitor and play with the Read more children, as well as change diapers and feed them when needed. I also have volunteered at a camp for children with hearing impairment for a few summers. My main jobs here were to monitor the kids assigned to me and make sure they were on task and safe. I have also nannied twins full time for a few summers. They were seven when I first started nannying them. My job included making them food, taking them to activities, taking them to the library, limiting electronic time, facilitating reading time, helping them with homework, and playing with them. Most of the time we played board games and activities outside like sports. I also work at the Child Development Lab-Rise program on campus where I monitor kids, ages 3-6 years old, in after school care. My responsibilities here are to monitor kids as they play, facilitate bathroom breaks, interact with the children, and to put a craft together for craft time. The CDL-Rise Program also required me to get a certified for Entry Level Child Care Training (ELCCT).
