Hello! My name is Katie and I am a 22 year old college graduate with a degree in Family and Child Development. I recently moved to Oklahoma from Texas (originally from New York) and look forward to learning more about the area. I am a women's soccer fan and my favorite player is Meghan Klingenberg (go Reign!). I love reading, movies and comics books, as well as spending time with friends and family. I have been babysitting since I was eleven years old and nannying since I was fifteen so I have over 11 years of experience caring for children. When I was 15, I cared for three children - G. age 6, who had Down Syndrome, C. age 3, and L. age 1 who was deaf. During the summer I was with two boys, one 9 and one 7. When I was 18 - 22 years old I was with two girls - An. was 5 when I started and Au. was 2 when I started. The first thing you should know about me is I have a passion for play! In my degree, I learned about the importance of play and how it helps children learn about the world around them so expect a lot of playing and games when I'm with your children! I believe in healthy eating, limiting TV time, art and free drawing, and getting outside as much as possible with children. I love dramatic play and dressing up as anything from a princess to a pirate! A few other things that I love to do are building blanket forts and having "camp outs" in them, crafts, and getting into the community like trips to museums or the zoo. My degree only made me more prepared to work with children. I learned the"technical" aspects of children, as well as having even more hands-on experience through classroom observation and my internship. I learned how discipline effectively, speak respectfully to toddlers, infant care and general childhood developmental milestones and techniques. I know how to effective incorporate math, science, literacy and other essential skills into play. As a nanny I require $22-$25/hr, taxed & guaranteed income, a signed contract between myself and my employers and PTO and sick days. I'm looking for a full time position.
