I am recently graduated from OSU where I received a degree in Natural Resources with a minor Botany. For the past two and a half years I have worked for a family in Corvallis with children who are now 7, 4 and a 6 month old. My husband has accepted a job in Eugene so we are looking to relocate. I am looking for temporary work to sustain me while I am looking for work in my field. As of right now my schedule is open and I'd like to find something close to full time. Please feel free to contact me and my references if you're interested and think we might be a good fit. Before moving to Corvallis I was living in Portland attending Portland Community College. I worked for 3 families during the week both before and after school. One of the families had a 9 and Read more a 5 year old. I would pick them up from school and take them to various activities, such as rock-climbing, hiking, swimming, parks, etc. I would also grocery shop and cook dinners for the family and help the older child with homework. I like to say that I am more of a mommy's helper, or a nanny than simply a babysitter, because of all the care that I provide. Another of the families that I worked for was 2 days a week before school for a 5 and a 2 year old. I would walk the 5 year old to school in the mornings and then spend the rest of the time with the 2 year old. We went for walks, played at the park, read (MANY) books, worked on the alphabet and numbers, etc. The other family was just one day a week for date night. I had worked for this family for 3 ½ years (some of that was more than once a week). When I started with them they had a 6 mo. Old and a 3 year old. I was with them until they were 6 and 4. All those years we experienced so much, learned many things and grew to really love each other. I would mainly work at night-time, so I would prepare dinner and get the kids ready and into bed with a story and songs. Before being a nanny I worked at a daycare/preschool called Fruit & Flower Day Care Center in NW Portland as a Late Day Aid. My classroom has children from the ages of 3-5 and a total of 18-20 kids depending on enrollment. My duties in this classroom are to assist the children with playtime, nap time, and snacks while teaching the children how to behave with others, share, communicate their emotions, and learning basics like spelling and speech.
