Hello! My wife and I moved to Eugene from Kansas in late August, and from October through most of January, my wife and I were a care team for 3 children under 5 years old and the occasional 14 year old. My wife focused on housekeeping and meal preparation while I cared for a 4-year-old boy, a 3-year-old girl, and a 1-year-old boy. We provided a structured, but organic routine including bathing and brushing teeth, getting dressed, learning time, playtime, quiet (nap) time, and story time. We also introduced the children to daily responsibilities such as feeding the fish in their pond and collecting eggs from the chickens we raised in their backyard. My wife and I believe strongly in love and consistency; that each child should be treated as our own and given attention suitable to their individual needs. For a year while I was in college, I worked Read more as a Before and After School Instructor at an Elementary School in Illinois. There, I worked with a team of Instructors to play with children, teach them manners, provide first-aid when necessary, and provide homework help for kids in Kindergarten through 6th grade. I was also a playground attendant at the associated Junior High for 7th and 8th graders. For two summers in college, I was a lifeguard, certified through The American Red Cross in CPR and First Aid. I worked at both a hotel in St. Louis, Missouri and a public pool in Belleville, Illinois. At the public pool, a team of 5-6 lifeguards would be responsible for up to 200 swimmers' safety. I was quickly promoted to lifeguard manager while there, managing the lifeguard rotation and dealing with customer issues. I was also raised in a home where my mother ran a daycare. She watched children of all ages, and I often joke that I learned how to change a diaper before I learned to ride a two-wheeled bicycle. I am the 2nd youngest of 7 children, so I truly believe that I learned from one of the best; a mom who had raised 7 of her own and cared for numerous other children. I was an uncle at age 12 and loved sitting for my sister's kids as a teenager. I am now an uncle to 8 wonderful nieces and nephews. Finally, I married my best friend and her three beautiful children; a 12, 14, and 16-year old. We enjoy board-game night together almost weekly, and eating dinner together each night is a priority for us. Thank you for checking out my bio and I look forward to hearing from you!
