My name is Emma and I am interested in caring for kid(s) this summer and fall! I am a college student, transferring to the UO, studying anthropology, biology, and Spanish. I am creative, outdoorsy, fun-loving & hardworking. I love to play outside, especially with kids, enjoying hiking, biking, and swimming. I sculpt, write, draw, read and bake in my free time and come up with fun crafts and projects to do with them. I did theater in high school and have fun with imaginary play, storytelling, and reading to kids. Safety is always my first priority. I have conflict resolution and outdoor safety training from my volunteer positions working with kids. I also participated in driver education and drive very safely. Additionally, I will be attending a CPR and First Aid training on Saturday, May 26, meaning that I will be AHA certified shortly. I have participated in peer tutoring, Read more especially in math and English, and love helping peers and kids enjoy and engage with their learning. I have also volunteered in second and seventh-grade math classes, helping students with homework, answering questions and explaining concepts. I have periodic access to a car and so would be able to provide transportation sometimes if necessary, although I will always be able to have a ride to your home. I am quite comfortable navigating around Eugene, as I was born and raised here. I adore kids and really enjoy spending time with them. I have two young cousins, ages 5 and 3, and love playing and caring for them. I have babysat for two families with children ages 4-10 over the past three years, taking them on excursions, preparing food, reading to them, playing with them, supervising outdoor play, and doing creative activities. I also occasionally care for a family with three children, ages 1, 3, and 4 for the past year, playing with them and taking them out. I have volunteered as an outdoor leader at Nearby Nature's summer day camps with children ages 3-12 for two summers (180 hours), leading nature walks, facilitating crafts, and playing with them. In high school, I assisted in a preschool/afterschool daycare twice a week as part of a child development class and have also volunteered in a second-grade classroom, reading to the kids and assisting with reading, writing, math, playtime, and classroom management.
