Hello! I am 49, and excited about being a teaching nanny for my second career! I home schooled my own children (from infancy), and have also worked as a regular day nanny, teaching and helping those children develop as well. After working in daycare centers and briefly operating my own home-based daycare, I have decided that I really prefer working with children in their own home environments. I have taken college courses covering Human Development, Early Childhood Development, Infant and Toddler Mental Health, Family Communication, and Sociology of the Family. I currently hold an interdisciplinary associate degree that includes classes in acting, vocal training, basic sketch art, both interpersonal and intercultural communication, and math up through introduction to basic Trigonometry. I also have a bachelor degree in Social Science and an Early Childhood Education certificate, plus other childcare training certificates and current Infant-Child-Adult CPR and Oregon Food Handler cards. I Read more have a natural aptitude for teaching and training and work best with children aged Walking (10-12 mos.) to 3 or 4, depending on the child's personal level of development. For me, some of the wonder and brilliance of life shines on my soul whenever I see "the lights go on" in a child's eyes as he or she understands something for the first time, gets curious about something, or experiences something brand new. There is no feeling in the world like being part of that! :) I have prepared a resume portfolio for you to peruse for a couple of days to help you decide if you want to interview me. Ask, and I'll bring it by! :)
