I have been caring for children since I was strong enough to hold a baby! I come from a very large Irish family which never had a shortage of little ones running around. My first nannying position was part-time while I was in high school for a family. I began when the kids were just 5 and 7 and we have grown inextricably bonded. Whenever I am in my home town of San Francisco Bay Area I still "babysit" them at 13 and 15! Caring for children has remained a constant, even at 22 years of age. My most recent nanny position was while I was living in Vancouver, B.C. I cared for a 3-year-old five days a week. She became my little companion in a brand new city. We explored, learned and played together until she entered daycare full time. I am proud to say that she was the Read more only 3-year-old in her daycare that could write her own name! The alphabet being something we worked on daily. I try to incorporate academia into the children's days with a balance of imaginative play (leaving TV for sick days) and physical play. I have experienced sitting and nannying for 6-month-olds to 13-year-olds. I am excited to find my next family to work with and help care for!
