With a Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education and a major in English, I have spent the past year working as a teacher for a program called Art-4-Life. My responsibilities included lesson planning and implementation, overseeing a group of thirty 1st-4th grade students with one or two other teachers, and coordinating activities and field trips. My pedagogy involves a series of personas punctuated by real learning moments, whether its Jimmy-John Joe-Bob II (a farmer from Kentucky whose favorite color is cow-spots) or the Fun Monster (a lovable grinch for whom phrases like "You better not be having fun in here" and "What's that on your face? Is that a SMILE???" never ceases to induce laughter and smiles). Children are my favorite people because they are unabashed and honest about everything, and their curiosity knows no bounds. My special skills involve music, dance, and singing (not well, but with the utmost enthusiasm), as well as drama games and performances to bring down the rafters. I have endless art projects up my sleeve and a knack for out-of-this-world adventures. Overall, your child will have an abundance of fun, and learn something along the way.
