I have always loved working with children. I started to nanny when I was 15 and by 17 worked at a day care. After graduating from interpreting school, where I received trainings in how to work with children and child development, I started working in the public schools. I worked with a variety of different children all with different needs. I got the chance to work with a child who was DeafBlind. I received monthly 3 day trainings for a year accompanied with hours of readings to prepare for the job and the trainings. These trainings provided ongoing support for those entered into the program so the learning never stopped. I continually apply all that I have learned into every experience. I am heading into my 4th season with the school district and am looking to open up my options. I am moving to Portland by Oct 3rd 2014 and Read more am looking forward to finding work in the school or privately. Part of being an interpreter/child care provider is also being a tutor/teacher of the world and the language needed to communicate within it. I think communication is one of the most important parts of a child's upbringing. It gives them ways to express frustration, happiness, wants, dislikes, and gives them the building blocks for learning. Communication can begin with a common shared breathe letting the child know that you are there and connecting with them. Watching physical body language, listening for the tone in their cry, paying attention to any other warning signs of emotional turmoil (wiggles, grunts, eyes changing emotion, etc) are all parts of communicating. I am patient and relaxing to be around. Loved by babies, children, pets, and people;) I love arts and crafts, music time, reading time, adventure time, teaching time, bubble time, and recently bought a 20 ft play parachute. Having a well balanced day leaves for happy children! We build understanding on top of previously learned information. It is never too early to start teaching kids about the science, language, math, and arts of the world. I am skilled at finding a fun and enjoyable way of learning for every child I have ever worked with.
