Registered Behavior Technician with 2 years experience as an Behavioral Therapist; Assistant Manager of afterschool age programs and summer camp for YMCA Boulder Valley; Lead overnight wilderness camp counselor for children with type 1 diabetes. I am a poet, musician, visual and sculptural artist with my BA in Liberal Arts (poetry/creative writing focus) from the Evergreen State College. I am friendly, energetic, empathetic, communicative, and creative. I became a childcare provider after experiencing a childhood full of mentors whom were able to provide me the attentive care I needed in order for me to blossom as a human, and I have found my calling in providing the same attention to children now that I am grown. In my 10+ years of childcare experience, I have worked with children from infants to teenagers to children with developmental disabilities. I have experience in home, classroom, and outdoor care. I have certifications for Read more (infant and adult) first-aid and CPR, and am very cool and collected during emergency situations. I adore children and find them highly relatable; I love to play and imagine and create, yet I am always quick to combine learning experiences with every action and activity. Although I am quick to befriend children, I am a capable and unyielding disciplinarian when necessary, although I ascribe to the behaviorist philosophy that Reinforcement is more effective than Punishment, and will encourage positive behavior while minimizing negative behavior in the most effective yet least invasive method possible.
