I am originally from Iowa City, IA where I graduated from the University of Iowa with a BFA in sculpture. I have lived in Portland since late 2017 and currently work for a Reggio-Emilio inspired childcare center as their Art and Science teacher. Prior to this experience I worked in a K-5 aftercare program dedicated to art education. My work in this field has taught me to address student needs with empathy, a growth mindset, and a lot of patience. I enjoy working with young children because I see the joy that comes when they develop learned skills over time. Those who work with me would say that when I engage with children I respect their worldview by listening and not interrupting and I show kindness and warmth to all children. I am trained in RIE, PBIS, infant to adult First Aid and CPR, and I am enrolled in the Read more Central Background Registry- Oregon Early Learning Division(background check with fingerprinting that all licensed childcare centers require for employment).
