I am a 30 year old certified English teacher looking for employment outside of the classroom that allows me to work with children. I grew up the oldest of 4 siblings and babysat regularly as a teen, so I have plenty of prior experience caring for babies and small children on a daily basis, although I have never been employed full-time as a nanny. I taught swimming lessons to children ages 0-15 for two years, and I also worked as a lifeguard. Since finishing my teaching degree in grad school in 2013, I have been working as a substitute teacher in local schools. I have also been employed at Sylvan Learning Center of Hollidaysburg since June of 2014, where I work with children in grades 2-12 on reading, writing, and study skills. I love working with children, and I am also very comfortable with pets (I have a dog and Read more cat of my own). I also have experience working with children with special needs, including ADHD, autism, and various learning disabilities. I am available full-time, and I have my own reliable car. I chose not to buy the background checks provided by Sittercity, but I have paper copies of all of my Pennsylvania clearances available for prospective employers to see, and I also have a clean driving record, which I can verify through Penn DOT.
