My Experience: I did one hundred hours with my Practicum Family that I did not get paid for. Responsible for a two month old infant and three year old girl. Infant care: bathing, laundry, playing, and attending baby's checkup appointments. Preparing healthy meals and encouraged creative play. Age appropriate crafts, bathed children, and maintained bedtime routine. Caring for four year old girl, she was 5 months old when I started. I supervised all activities including swimming, hiking, crafts, and animal care. Teaching the alphabet, reading, numbers, and singing. Preparing healthy meals. I was responsible for three children, newborn to five years old when started; plus two additional children occasionally. Provide nutritious meals and responsible for all activities such as outside playtime, swimming, dancing, and biking. To bathe, potty training and maintain bedtime routines. I took care of the Pastor’s daughter, who was twelve year old for the summer. Supervised swimming, Read more initiated creative playtime inside and outside. Prepared nutritious food and baked goods together; trying new recipes together. Responsible for four year old girl. I prepared nutritious meals and age appropriate activities that are indoors and outdoors. I was responsible for teaching and helping the children with any questions they might have. Additionally helping them with crafts we would do, to help them understand the lesson that I taught them. My primary reason that I decided to become a caregiver, was because I really enjoy taking care of children and I wanted to further my education on childhood development. Why I love my job as a Nanny is be able to help the children develop through basic motor skills, general manners, listening and reading comprehension, letter/number identification, and incorporating music. I like to incorporate many different activities for the children to be engaged in all day. Some activities would include going outside the house to explore the world, like going to parks, museums, zoo, community pools, dance classes, or anything similar. Another would be doing crafts and discovering their creative side. I attended the English Nanny and Governess School, in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. I graduated as a Certified Professional Nanny, achieving several certificates in Defensive Driving, Infant Massage, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Newborn Care Specialist, First Aid, and CPR certified.
