I am a dependable, organized, creative and patient childcare professional. I love working with children at all stages of development and have done so in school and home settings. Some things to know about me: - 33 years old - Bachelor's degree in Psychology/Master's degree in Education from Northeastern University - Child-focused care, centered on fostering independence and creativity - Will provide homework help - Can prep meals/do housework/errands - Good with pets - Full-time availability - Valid driver s license, clean record/have my own car - Non-smoker I am a native Philadelphian returning to the area after 15 years in Boston. In Boston I spent a majority of my time with children in a variety of settings. I worked for 3 years in Boston Public Schools as a classroom aid and lead teacher. As an aid I worked with students in grades 1 and 5, providing specialized reading support. Read more As a lead teacher I worked in a classroom of 4th and 5th graders, including students with special needs. I taught reading, math and social studies, guided field trips and designed a 10-week interdisciplinary unit on Ancient Egypt. After this, I spent 3 years in a private Montessori School as an art teacher to children ages 3-12yrs old, working on thematic curriculum to deepen students' classroom learning. I also provided after school support and taught an 8-week cooking class for preschool age children. During my time in Boston I was a nanny for the same family of three children for 8 years, the youngest child being born while I lived with the family, so I do have experience with infants. The children are now 6, 10 and 13. I took the kids on trips to various museums and places of interest in Boston. I guided innumerable creative projects (and their cleanup!), made sure everyone got balanced meals, snacks and fresh air, as well as providing household support for the parents, as needed. When working with kids, I love facilitating creative and imaginative play. I also strive to develop manageable routines to provide stability and build independence. I am happy to assist families in the day-to-day function of the household, including running errands, cooking meals and housework.
