Hi there! My name is Leo Hill and I am currently an engineering freshman at the University of Pittsburgh. I was born in Lakewood, Ohio in 1996 and moved to Sewickley, Pennsylvania (25 minutes away from Pittsburgh) when I was three, where I currently live with my parents, older sister and two younger brothers. Growing up, I was raised and guided in a principled, positive and encouraging environment. My parents felt that their most important role was to instill within me as a child a strong foundation in faith, family, morality and education that would guide me throughout my entire life. My parents also encouraged me to keep challenging myself, and to keep physically and mentally healthy. Whether at home, in Church, or around our town, I was constantly guided by standards and ideals that encouraged me to do my best. As a child, I was exposed to and participated in recreational reading, writing, hiking, camping, fishing soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis, golf, swimming, skiing, and many other activities. I playing team sports on a yearly basis since I was in first grade. These childhood experiences provided me with an opportunity to learn new skills, challenge myself, and to cooperate and work with others. After grade school I went to Quaker Valley High School in Leetsdale Pennsylvania, where I played basketball, baseball, and track. In addition to sports, I also worked two babysitting jobs in my neighborhood, held a position on the Distinguished Honor Roll, maintained a 3.96 high school GPA and was functioning as an officer for the National Honors Society, Global Scholars Initiative and Key Club. In my spare time I enjoyed playing pickup sports, hanging out with friends or going skiing, hiking, biking and rock climbing. Currently I am finishing my freshman year of college here at Pitt. I am enjoying student life very much, and this past year I was awarded a three-and-a-half year academic scholarship and received a job as a resident assistant for the 2015-2016 school year. In the future, I plan to become a mechanical engineer, and in I am incredibly interested in studying abroad. This summer I will be taking summer classes at the University from may until mid June, and I hope to fill the months of July and August with a summer babysitting job.
