Hi there! My name is Adam Kroloff, and I am a private music instructor, primarily guitar, with 15 years of experience specializing in young learners and beginners. It finally dawned on me that working as a part-time nanny (or "manny," as I would say) would be a dream job, so here I am! I realized many years ago that I had a natural gift relating to kids. In fact, my first year out of theater school (BFA ’93, DePaul University) I joined the Blue Sky Puppet Theater in Washington, D.C. where I performed for thousands of kids. This is where I learned how to talk to kids on their level, building a natural rapport with them that fostered learning and engagement. After moving to Western Pennsylvania, I created The Paradox Puppet Theater, where I had the chance to perform for families and their children across the Pittsburgh region, primarily at Read more birthday parties. In 2002, I decided I would rather work with kids one on one, and that is when I began teaching private guitar lessons at Armens’ House of Music. I then moved on to teach at Monster Music, and now I am a teacher at Backstage Guitars in Lawrenceville. Teaching has proved to be extremely fulfilling and it has only reinforced my love for working with children. It also been a personal learning experience for me, with lesson after lesson on how best to talk to, encourage, challenge, engage, inspire, have fun with, empathize with, and of course, teach youngsters. Every day is an adventure. I was born in 1968 in Washington, D.C. to a very caring and loving family. Family is very important to me, and it is one of the reasons I’m seeking opportunities to work with a terrific family who could really use my help. The idea of becoming a “manny" only recently occurred to me, and it struck me as the perfect fit. While I don't have formal experience with the "manny" title, I do have experience babysitting my best friend's 3 year old twins, and have done the same for my nephews over the years.
