I have lived in Woodlyn, PA for 20 years in my own house. I love working with kids and animals and I have a passion for music (any kind but jazz and rap)... I babysat almost every weekend for 6 years when I was in junior high and high school while I was growing up in Swarthmore. I was highly recommended to others because families told friends about my excellent rapport with chidlren and my sense of responsiblility. In addiiton to my babysitting work, I also took violin lessons for 4 years and piano lessons for 8 years. During the summer months while I attended college, I was a nurse's assistant. My duties included bathing,dressing,grooming and feeding the elderely residents of the geriatric center. This experience of caring for old people can certainly be applied to caring for children. As a substitute teacher, I worked with second graders all the way up to eigth grade as well as autistic students.   Three months later, in April 2010, I was hired as a pre-school teacher in at Loving Care Children's Learning Center in Glenolden where I was employed for 18 months. I mostly worked in the toddler room with 3 other teachers and we often we cared for 20 children all day long. We were required to take a training class about once a month which included topics such as Head Bumps Matter, Good Nutrition, Classroom Organizations, etc.. During my time in the toddler room, I cared for a 3 year old with autism spectrum disorder who I worked with for 8 months. I also covered for my co-workers who were responsible for the infants or the 4 to 5 year old pre-school children. I loved working with the little ones. To be a care giver is very rewarding for me because I know I'm making a positive difference in a child's life as well as helping the parent(s) with their lives. My child care philosophy is to be patient, attentive, and fun and most importantly, to keep the children safe.
