I'm a mom with a daughter who just started college so I've been through all the ages/phases. Our house was the hangout where it was okay to run in the house and you didn't always have to use your "indoor voice." As long as they were playing safely, working out any disagreements and using their imaginations, restrictions were minimal. Things seem pretty quiet/dull without kids around so I thought it would be fun to have a job working with kids and at the same time give busy parents a break from worrying how the kids are doing while they are away from them. I like to play with and interact with the kids, explore, run around outside, and just have fun. If they can learn something while they're doing something they like, even better.

When I fell down the stairs and broke my leg (requiring surgery to repair) I didn't know how I was going to care for my two kids. Karen was -- quite literally -- an answer to my prayers. She was dependable, punctual, and very caring and patient (and trust me, my six-year-old son would try the patience of a saint!). A very hard worker, Karen had no problem at all helping me with cooking dinner and preparing other meals (when I was still laid up on the couch), doing laundry, and shuttling my son around to school and karate. She was extremely attentive to my year-old daughter, as well. I had absolutely no qualms at all about leaving my children in her care, and will be very sad to see her go when we move next week. She's the best!
