I'm pretty new at advertising myself as a sitter or nanny, although I have done both before. During the summer of 2013, I was a nanny for a friend of mine while she & her husband worked. I would arrive at their house at 7:30 a.m. and stay until 6 or 6:30 p.m., depending on what time someone got home. In addition to watching the children, who were 6 & 2 at the time, I also did light housework. I would make sure the house was picked up & the kitchen cleaned. The oldest child had a calendar of activities from his school to complete during the summer--reading, solving math problems, etc--so I worked on that with him as well. I started babysitting at my own house for my 2 younger sisters when I was in middle school. By high school, I was babysitting for a family from my church. Read more Now, I help provide child care for my nephews & niece. They're 7, 4 & 2. I spent 2 years volunteering at my church's preschool. A job became available there in 2014 & I was hired. I worked there for a year, but this past school year's enrollment was down, so they couldn't afford to keep me. I really enjoy working with children. I love to sit down & play with them, seeing them learn to use their imaginations. I love seeing the joy & wonder on their faces as they experience new things. I get to see things through their eyes, every day things I take for granted such as looking up at the stars, and develop new appreciations.
