Hi! I am a 57 year old woman who has been a stay-at-home mom and homeschooling teacher for my three (now-grown) children. I was married for 27 years and have now been divorced for two years. I homeschooled my youngest child the longest - from pre-K through twelfth grade. She graduated from Mississippi State's Honors College with a 4.0 gpa and is now thriving in her first year in the University of Tulsa's Doctoral program. I love teaching, but have no interest in working in a classroom I much prefer the more personal teacher/student interaction that working with just a couple of children affords. For a couple of years, I did teach homeschool groups of 10-15 homeschooled high schoolers speech, debate, theatre and leadership classes, as those are not beneficial or effective classes without a group setting. I have spent the last two years since my divorce healing, rebuilding, and Read more relocating to the Memphis area to be nearer my family. I also have begun work on the completion of my college degree begun some 35 years ago. I am currently a Junior Psychology major in Regent University's online program. I have not worked as a professional nanny, but the last 34 years of my life have been spent doing that very work with my own kids. I do not want to "try it and see if I like it" - I know that I have treasured every moment and memory caring for and educating my children. Now that I am single and my nest is empty, working as a long-term nanny and being a consistent, influential, kind, and patient presence is perfect for me. Prior to having children, I worked as a Respiratory Therapy Tech in all areas from the ER to floor care to NICU and ICU/CCU. While it is not longer current, I also was a certified CPR instructor, which I would gladly renew. I have a current background check on file with my former church in MS, but will likely need to facilitate one here in TN.
