I grew up in England and began working with children in 2000 when the birth of my cousin encouraged my passion to educate and entertain young children. Seeing her grow from birth to seventeen years old inspired me to pursue a career in child care. As a teenager I began a babysitting service looking after children aged two to ten years old which gave me the basic tools in constructing an educational and fun environment. In January 2010 I began my child care career aboard Camp Lejeune in North Carolina working as a Child Development Associate at a Child Development Center with children age 6 weeks- 5 years. After 6 months of working with every age group and acquiring part time status, I was offered a position in a toddler room. The Director of the Youth Pavilion and Teen program aboard Camp Lejeune noticed my talent in theatre and asked Read more for me to transfer to his department to work with children age 6 to 18 years old. Despite having a Bachelor of Arts I decided to pursue accreditation in child development and achieved my Child Development Associates in 2011. As an employee on a government run child care facility you are required annual training. I have been trained and qualified in CPR and First Aid. I have completed Infant-Toddler modules, received training in conscious discipline, basic child development, creative curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices, the mandt system, health and safety and other types of related training in regards to working on a government facility. I find working with children extremely gratifying as I know I am making a difference in a child’s life and it is an accomplishment for me to know that I played a part in a child’s learning process. I want to make a difference in the world. Children are the future of our nation and our world. It is up to caregivers and nannies to do the best we can to be a positive influence in the life of the children in our care.
