Hello, my name is Sarah Blackshear and I am currently 21 years old. I have been living in Texas most of my life, and am the middle child of two sisters. I will be attending the University of Texas at Austin this fall to pursue a degree in linguistics after attending community college for two years. I plan on pursuing my phD in speech pathology, and eventually working with the U.S. Foreign Service Office. I began working with children as a teaching assistant at the age of 13 through the studio where I trained in classical ballet. I maintained this job until the age of 18, when I began to attend community college and teach my own classes in the greater Houston area in daycares and private schools. I have been a dance instructor up until this past June, and it has been a rewarding job that has assisted me Read more in becoming more efficient in communicating with others, perfecting my teaching skills, and also learn how to interact more efficiently with children ages 2 through 15. As a dance instructor, I strived to teach the children not only how to dance, but how to conduct oneself in an appropriate manner in a class setting, and how to communicate effectively with peers and their teacher. I believe this job helped prepare me for my current babysitting/nannying job. Since April 2013, I have been a part-time babysitter/nanny for a local family, caring for a special needs girl (age 3 at beginning of job, with speech and physical disabilities) and a boy (age 5 at beginning of job). I tag nanny on the end because I helped with cleaning, dishes, and laundry when needed. I began this job as the father is a co-worker of my mother, but over the past two years, I have found it to be a rewarding job and it has motivated me to pursue nannying as a full-time job. I am looking to find a family that can work with my school schedule and is looking for a long term employee, but also someone to grow with the family. That has been something I have greatly enjoyed about my current job. I have felt like a part of the family working for them, and I feel happy that I have assisted their children in growing up. Although I have a set schedule for school and have displayed specific availability, I am willing to compromise and be flexible as much as possible for the right job.
