I'm passionate about combining mainstream and Montessori learning (simple things such as picking up your own trash, picking up your toys before you play with the next thing, cleaning your dishes, etc.). Even with infants I have a weekly theme, rotate toys and have weekly treasure baskets for them to explore. My focus is on building independence, self-confidence, and life skills in each child I work with, no matter what age they are! I specialize in: Feeding, bathing, cleaning, sterilizing and preparing bottles. Initiating a schedule for sleeping, meals, nap and play-time. Laundering infant clothing and linens, including washing, drying, folding and putting away. Keeping the nursery tidy and changing linens. Maintaining all supplies and restocking baby care items. Emptying diaper containers. Keeping the infant play areas and bathroom tidy. Keeping age appropriate toys safe and in good working order. Keeping a daily journal of schedules and moods. Running infant Read more related errands as directed and transporting infant to activities and appointments as agreed upon by the parent. And so much more! I have worked with children in many capacities over the last 20 years. I began as a babysitter at 11 for my neighbor's newborn and toddler. At 21, I took my first nanny job with premature twins. Since then, I have been a nanny and family manager for several families, been a camp counselor/program director, foster mom for teen girls, and preschool teacher in both mainstream and Montessori classrooms. I am certified as a Newborn Care Specialist Master and continue to learn as much as I can about infants and children. Although I'm only fluent in English, I know 50-100 words in baby sign language, and I will continue to learn, as I find it's a valuable tool to communicate with children. As for my home life, I have no children, but I have seven animals- two Cocker Spaniels, three Boxers, and two clumsy Manx cats. I don't smoke or drink. and I follow a vegetarian diet-though I don't expect anyone else to, and I am fine with preparing meat. You can check out my website timefliesaustin.com to see more of what I can do and to read my references! I look forward to working with you and your family. Thank you for your time!
